Amy Floy Akre

Amy Floy Akre, age 95, formerly of Pinckneyville, died Sunday, April 2, 2000 at 9:40 p.m. in the St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, MO.
Amy was born in Fulton, IN on November 1, 1904, the daughter of Stephen Jerome and Mary Jane Cora (Myers) Harris.  She married Hugh Akre on October 16, 1926 in South Bend, IN and he preceded her in death on May 19, 1972.  She was a homemaker, a member of the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Sue Williams and her husband William of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Addie Chambers of Indiana; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, four sisters and one daughter, Phyllis Jane White.
Friends were able to call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Tuesday, April 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 until 9 a.m. then at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 5 in the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Robert Smith officiating.  Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
